GE Family Fun Day

Every October, GE Energy in Greenville sponsors a Family Fun Day at the plant. Evan heard from other employees that it was not be missed, and they were not kidding. First, they open the plant up for employees to take their families on tours. This may not seem like a big deal, but it was really fascinating. While Evan works behind a desk on the R and D side of things, he is on site with an actual production plant that produces, among other things, gas turbines. I probably know about gas turbines than any other English major on the planet :), so it was nice to actually see one in person. (See Ella and Daddy in front of the massive turbine below.)

But the really big deal of Family Fun Day is that they clear out a huge parking lot and fill it with amusement and carnival rides, face painting, games, and more food and drinks than you can fathom ... and it's all completely free. Exposing me to unlimited FREE funnel cake is a recipe for disaster, but I showed a bit of restraint and only had one. Ella and Daddy rode several of the little kid sized rides, and she loved it. (Easton and I were there ... really. We just strolled around with the stroller watching the people.)
