Aww nuts!

Well, it's official -- Ella is allergic to peanuts. We now have to avoid all nuts in her food. She was a real trooper at the allergist -- she cried when the nurse pricked her back for the skin test, but she settled down pretty quickly and hung out with her daddy while we waited for the results. She showed allergy to peanuts, cashews, and pistachios, but to be safe, we were advised to avoid all nuts. We now have a couple of Epi-Pins and instructions on how to use them; we pray we never have to. Evan is especially sad, as peanut butter is his favorite food! It is possible that Ella will outgrow this, but given the siaze of her skin test reaction, the doctor said it is unlikely.

So, we now enter the world of label reading and questioning servers at restaurants about every ingredient. As inconvenient as this is, we reminded ourselves that this is so minor compared to what many parents face every day when their children are diagnosed with serious illnesses. We are grateful to God for Ella's health, and we cherish each day we are given with our precious little ones.

All of that to say, please don't send us banana nut bread at Christmas! :)
