Choices, choices, choices ...

We spent the weekend in Asheville and Greenville. While we had a GREAT time having fun with family, the primary purpose of the trip was for Evan and me to visit McCar Homes Design Center to make some choices for our new house. We had a lot of fun!

The beauty for us of building with a national builder is that we didn't have many options. As odd as that sounds, the number of choices we DID get to make were overwhelming enough. This is our first house, so if we had to go to Lowe's and choose from 2000 carpet samples, we both would have had nervous breakdowns! We hope to build a fully custom home someday, but that is many years and pay raises down the road! :) On top of the choices you will see below, we had to decide about extra cable outlets, phone jacks, ceiling fan wiring, etc. Any changes we want to make now are $200 a piece, so we are doing no second-guessing! (Translation: if you hate something we chose, forever hold your peace because we can't afford to change our minds!) We came in $300 over budget -- and that little bit of extra helped squeeze in my jacuzzi tub!

Our sales rep expects the house to be framed before the New Year, so we may actually be in by Evan's March 24th start date!

<--- The far left is the tile that will go in the shower surround and trim the tub in the Master bathroom. The middle will be on the floor in the two upstairs bathrooms. The cabinet piece is for all cabinetry in the house --kitchen and upstairs bathrooms.
Here is our carpet and hardwood side by side. The hardwood will go in the foyer, powder room, breakfast room, kitchen, and dining room.

This is our sink, except that ours will be a 50/50. Our kitchen faucet will be this color, but not this style.

A shot of our cabinetry, Corian countertop, and the sink.

This is our countertop with the two tile colors that will be used for the kitchen backsplash.

Our kitchen cabinet knobs ...

The bottom piece on these cabinets is calles a "light rail." It hides our under cabinet lighting. (We are only getting a couple under cabinet lights -- $70 a piece!)

A sample of the crown molding on tops of our cabinets ...

Our cabinets with the countertop and hardwood flooring sample ...

Lot 13!! (This one's ours!)

Our future backyard --- gotta get some grass in there!

Ella and Nana walking the lot.

Our siding, brick, and shingles.

A close up of our countertops and cabinets.
What our fireplace will look like. (Note the switch to the right -- no stacking wood for Evan!) :)
What our foyer light fixture will look like ...
Another "Shelby" house ... our brick, siding, and roof will be different, but this is the general idea. We also chose black shutters and front door.

EMily! How exciting! This is so much fun! To get to choose all these things and then see them coem to life in your very own house! Now you know what we went through while we were living in NY and trying to get ready for a newborn too!

So fun!

Good luck! I can't wait to see the finished product!

By the way, you look great!!!!!

Love,
Christy
